John always had a great appetite I think he had hollow legs really and have never come across anyone who could put away as much food as he could. If you sat next to him for dinner you had to be weary - if you looked away you were sure to be missing something from your plate. If we went out for dinner and it came to dessert he would be asked cream, custard or ice-cream John would just simply say 'yes'. Karen
