Poem by John's friend Brian Farrelly On Lions Rock. Can you recall that day John When we climbed that mountain high Scrambled up to Lions Rock Resplendent in the sky. then we turned around To stare below At Stone Cutters Island and Sham Shui Po With Sek Kong and Fan Ling at our backs We viewed the run way at Kai Tak. Where Jumbo Jets so large and mighty Flew to the land that we called Blighty From where they leave day and night Departing that place of lost delight. Do you remember the Old Walled City Where street dentists have no pity They ply their trade in pyjama suits Beneath the sign of a swinging tooth. The Nathan Road that we once seen Was it real or just a dream The sights the sounds the neon glare Did it happen were we really there. Where are the lads of those lost years Faces we knew voices I can still hear Vibrant days and nights of long ago That disappeared just like spring snow. Farewell old mate.
